Certified Chinese translation services

Certified translation between English and Chinese, in Simplified or Traditional characters, for immigration, education, business and family matters.

We work with documents from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore, and with Chinese-speaking clients anywhere in the United States.

Simplified or Traditional characters

Documents for mainland China and Singapore normally use Simplified characters; Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau use Traditional characters. Tell us where the translation will be used and we deliver it in the right script.

Notarial certificates and apostilles

Many Chinese civil documents are issued as notarial certificates (公证书) by a notary office. China joined the Hague Apostille Convention in November 2023, so documents exchanged with the mainland, Hong Kong and Macau can now generally use apostilles instead of consular legalization. Taiwan is not a party to the Convention, so Taiwanese documents follow a separate authentication route.

Frequently asked questions

How do you handle Chinese names in the translation?

We give names in pinyin (or the romanization used in the passport) and keep the characters alongside when useful, so that the translation matches your identity documents.

Can a US document for China be apostilled now?

In most cases, yes, since China's accession to the Apostille Convention. We confirm the requirements of the receiving authority, which may also ask for a Chinese translation.

How much does a certified Chinese translation cost?

It depends on the document, its length, the translation direction and your deadline. Send the document through the quote form or to info@abc-offices.com and you receive a written quote before any work begins.

Request a quote

Prices depend on the document, the language pair, the destination country and your deadline, so every request gets its own written quote. Attach your documents if you have them; it makes the quote exact.
